Well it’s been a while since I started my degree journey at CQU. I started studying in Term 3 2018 which, at the age of 44, was a huge struggle for me. My two girls are grown up now (25 and 19) so it does make studying a whole lot easier for me – although at times I feel selfish when I can’t spend time with them as I would like due to study commitments. I’m lucky to have an understanding family. I haven’t written a blog since 2019 so it’s like starting again.
My goal was to graduate before I turned 50 but that milestone came and went in December 2023. I am very much looking forward to completing my degree in Term 2 this year – which is not too far off my goal.
I am currently working at Townsville Catholic Education as a Junior Accountant. I have worked there for 14 years in various roles. My current role was designed for me when the project I was working on, to implement a new financial management system to all 29 schools, was completed. I enjoy my current role, however, it is difficult at times to complete your own jobs when you are one of the longest serving members in a team, and constantly get asked for your advice. I suppose it is a compliment though.
I will be taking long service leave once Term 2 (October) is over and am hoping to get across to Europe with my husband and girls. I would mainly like to travel around the UK for a few weeks then possibly some other parts of Europe for a week or two. My Dad was born in England and I have family that was born in Scotland. I haven’t been before so if anyone has any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated.
I look forward to learning all about my fellow classmates and learning from them by reading their blogs this term. Happy Studying
